Joe Adame was born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. He and his wife Kathy raised their three sons, Chris, Mark & Jarrett in Corpus Christi and they are all actively involved in the real estate business, like their father. Joe graduated from Corpus Christi Academy in 1963 and received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University in 1968. In 1974, Joe started Joe Adame & Associates, Inc., a full-service commercial industrial real estate Brokerage firm and it is still considered a leader in the South Texas area today. He is an active member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). Joe has served as Past Chairman of the Commercial Investment Division of the Texas Association of Realtors. He served nine years as an advisory board member of the Real Estate Center Texas A&M University and received the William Jennings Lone Star Award in 1995 for the most outstanding commercial real estate transaction in the State of Texas.
Leadership, “Soft Skills” and connecting people are very important to Joe Adame. In 1987 Joe stewarded an initiative to create the first Leadership Prayer Breakfast for Corpus Christi and has taken an active role supporting ecumenical ministries in the South Texas area. He is also certified as a Leadership Life Coach by the John Maxwell Leadership Training.
Joe’s second passion to leading people to Christ has always been baseball. While serving as past chairman of the Corpus Christi Economic Development Corporation, Joe took a lead role in bringing Minor League Baseball to the City of Corpus Christi. In 2006 he was inducted into the Corpus Christi Business Hall of Fame. Other City involvement include Corpus Christi Housing Authority, Corpus Christi Transit Authority, Airport Advisory Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Leadership Corpus Christi Class VI.
In 2009 , Joe Adame was elected the first Hispanic Mayor of Corpus Christi and served two terms. During his time as Mayor he was active in the economic efforts to land several billion dollar investments in the Corpus Christi area including Chinese Tianjin Pipe Corporation , Austria Voestalpine Steel Manufacturing and the Italian based M&G polyester resin processing plant.
In 2012, Joe was awarded the prestigious Order of Saint Michael Award for Army Aviation by the Corpus Christi Army Depo for his involvement and support of the largest employer in the South Texas area. Joe Adame also served as the Entrepreneur in residence for the Coastal Bend Innovation Center at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, earning him the prestigious Russell Kirkland Lector designation, in 2006.
Today, Joe spends most of his time as a “rancher” on his family ranch with Kathy in Falls City, Texas. He enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family, playing golf, and completing ranch projects with his Golden Retriever, Goldie.
